Juventus star forward Federico Chiesa is keen on joining Liverpool in the ongoing transfer window amidst interest from Newcastle United.
According to a report by La Gazzetta Dello Sport via Paisley Gates, Liverpool are keen on acquiring the services of Federico Chiesa and the latest development suggests that even the player is open to the idea of joining the Merseyside club.
Chiesa has gone from strength to strength since joining the Old Lady. However, things haven’t been that great of late. He has struggled with injuries and his game time took a major hit last season.
While he was involved in 33 matches during the 2022-23 season, he was on the pitch for less than 1500 minutes. On top of the limited game time, the 25-year-old is not that great a fit in Massimiliano Allegri’s system and a move elsewhere could help his cause.
While his contract at Juventus runs until the summer of 2025, a move in the ongoing window looks likely as his agent is currently in England exploring a possible destination for the Italian international.
Aston Villa, Liverpool and Newcastle United are three clubs that are keen on having him in their ranks. However, Chiesa is not convinced by the Villa project and doesn’t want to make a move to Villa Park. But, he is open to the idea of joining the Reds ahead of next season.
Jurgen Klopp’s men fear that they could lose out on their star forward Mohamed Salah in the ongoing summer. While he has returned for pre-season training and seems happy at the club, there is a lot of interest from Saudi Arabia clubs of late and their financial strength is a cause of concern for Liverpool.
As a result, they have their eyes set on Federico Chiesa. They have identified the Italian international as a potential replacement for the 31-year-old forward. Meanwhile, Juventus are ready to sell as per the reports. However, they value him at around €60 million, a figure that could prove too much for the Merseyside club.
The positive at this point in time is that the player is open to the idea of joining the Reds. However, he is also ready to join Newcastle United. The Magpies have Champions League football to offer and it could end up being a deciding factor.
