Perr Schuurs is reportedly keen on joining Liverpool, leaving the Reds in a better position than other suitors like Crystal Palace and West Ham United.
According to a report by Tuttosport, as relayed by Sport Witness, Perr Schuurs will prefer to join Liverpool when he leaves Torino. That leaves the Merseyside club in a better position to land the 23-year-old than Crystal Palace and West Ham United. Meanwhile, the Granata will demand €40 million to part ways with the centre-back.
Perr Schuurs has established himself as one of the best defenders in Serie A since joining Torino from Ajax last summer. The Dutch defender had made gradual progress at the Johan Cruijff Arena. But he has come leaps and bounds following his debut season at Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.
The 23-year-old has turned out 33 times thus far for Torino, chipping in with one goal and two assists. And Schuurs’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known outfits. Liverpool, Crystal Palace, and West Ham United are among the Premier League clubs vying for his signature.
Schuurs has been on Liverpool’s radar for a long time. And the Reds have identified him as a top target for the summer transfer window. With Joel Matip struggling with fitness issues in the last two seasons and Joe Gomez’s performance levels waning, it behoves Liverpool to invest in a centre-back. And the Torino defender is a viable target.
As for Crystal Palace, the Eagles have recently intensified their efforts to secure Schuurs’s services. And amid uncertainties surrounding the futures of Joachim Andersen and Marc Guehi, the 23-year-old is an option worth considering.
Meanwhile, West Ham United recently joined the race to sign the Dutch centre-back. And with Angelo Ogbonna well into his thirties, Schuurs can be the ideal candidate to replace the veteran Italian defender. But West Ham and Crystal Palace might have an uphill task pursuing the player, who wants to join Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Torino will demand €40 million to part ways with the Dutchman. All three clubs should be in a position to afford to pay €40 million to sign Schuurs. But the player’s preference will play a big role in his next destination. And it will be interesting to see if Liverpool can beat Crystal Palace and West Ham to his signature.
