Galatasaray are ready to bid for Davinson Sanchez, as Tottenham are willing to consider offers for the beleaguered defender.
According to the Daily Mail, Galatasaray are eager to approach to sign Davinson Sanchez. The Tottenham defender has entered the final year of his deal and will leave the club as part of the shake-up at the back by new manager Ange Postecoglu.
Davinson Sanchez arrived at Tottenham with a glowing reputation following his performances with Ajax. There were big things expected of the 27-year-old defender, who cost £42 million. But he has never managed to nail down a prominent place in this setup.
There were moments when the Colombian looked solid, especially under Mauricio Pochettino. However, he has never managed to convince them of his absolute qualities or justify the £42 million outlay. His time at Spurs got summarised by the booing he received during a brief cameo during Tottenham’s home loss to Bournemouth.
That moment certainly signalled the end of his time in north London, as Tottenham are now open to considering offers for the £42 million star. Galatasaray have now expressed an interest in the Colombian defender, as they may ready a bid in the coming days.
The report reckons Galatasaray are open to paying £6.4 million, but they might increase it to £7.7 million. With Sanchez in the final year of his deal, Tottenham are keen to extract the best possible value and reportedly hold out for £12.5 million.
Some reports also suggest Tottenham could offer Sanchez in part exchange for Victor Nelsson. Under new boss Ange Postecoglu, Spurs are intent on shaking up their defensive ranks, with several changes planned.
There are links to Edmond Tapsoba, and the Bayer Leverkusen defender is not the only star on their list. Spurs remain linked with many defenders, showing Postecoglu’s aggressive plans for changes at the back.
Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven remains a key target, but there are other clubs in the hunt for the Dutchman. Meanwhile, Tottenham are also negotiating with Barcelona to sign Clement Lenglet permanently. While they have yet to sign a new centre-back, things are moving pretty smoothly for Spurs in the market.
As for Sanchez, he does not have a place in Posteecoglou’s setup, and Spurs will not waste too much time in hassling over the fee. Galatasaray have a good chance to seal the deal close to their terms but may have to pay slightly more than the reported figures.
