Tottenham are keen on Wilfried Singo, who could leave Torino for €12 million, as he enters the final year of his contract at the Serie A side.
According to Tuttosport, Tottenham are still keen on Wilfried Singo and could explore a move in this window. The Torino full-back could leave the club for €12 million after entering the final year of his deal. If Spurs manage to sign the Ivorian, then they might look to offload at least two of their current right-back options.
Tottenham have had a right-back or wing-back problem for the last 18 months to two years. Emerson Royal and last summer’s signing Djed Spence have not proven their worth, which led to Antonio Conte exploring another option in January.
Pedro Porro came on an initial loan deal with an obligation clause from Sporting CP. The Spaniard started brightly, but constant changes in Tottenham’s system ensured he had a bad end to the season. Spurs finished in eighth and will play no part in European football in the upcoming season.
As things stans, Spurs have already signed the deal to make Porro’s transfer permanent, but reports are linking them with another right-back. Tottenham have long admired Torino’s €15-million-rated Wilfried Singo. He was linked in 2022 and again in January. But the Serie A club’s asking price proved too much.
Singo has entered the final year of his deal, and with no signs of a new deal in place, Torino might look to sell him for €15 million. Tottenham may see that asking price as a bit steep. However, the Serie A club could accept a fee of €12 million to let the defender leave.
The €12 million in this market seems reasonable enough for a 22-year-old full-back coming at the back of a solid season. He finished the campaign with two goals and three assists in 35 Serie A games. There’s also interest from Serie A giants AC Milan and Inter Milan. Still, a move to the Premier League might tempt the Ivorian.
With the permanent signing of Porro, Tottenham currently have three recognised right-backs or wing-backs in their squad. Hence, if Singo does arrive, they may have to offload at least two of those, although Pedro may not be the one.
Singo might prove an astute buy for the price tag Torino wants, and overall he could offer more than Emerson or Spence in this squad. Whether Tottenham make the transfer happen remains the question, but it’s always possible.
