Manchester United have established contacts with the agents of 18-year-old Brazil international Vitor Roque amidst interest from Barcelona.
According to Mundo Deportivo via SportWitness, Manchester United have contacted the agents of Vitor Roque. The Red Devils are looking to make a late surge in their pursuit of the 18-year-old Athletico Paranaense forward who is close to joining Barcelona.
The Catalan giants are close to completing the signing of Roque. They have trying to land him at the club for a while now and it seems certain that he will be a Barcelona player ahead of next season. However, United are still willing to try their luck.
It is claimed that Xavi’s team have a pre-agreement for the 18-year-old to move to Spain. The deal could be worth €35 million plus €10 million in bonuses. As per the claim, only a final document is being sorted out, once that is done the Brazil international will officially be a Barcelona player.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are ready to push for his services. While it seems to be too late, they are still hoping to convince the player to choose them instead of the Catalan giants. Erik ten Hag’s team are in search of a new number nine and Roque could help their cause.
While he has no experience of playing in Europe, the teenager is an exceptional talent who might not have any such problem adjusting to the Premier League. However, they need to beat Barcelona to his signature.
The Spanish giants might have a pre-agreement in place but they are not sure if they can register him in their squad at this point in time. They will have to ensure a few sales before they have the available salary cap to give him a first-team contract or else they might have to loan him back to Athletico Paranaense.
This might be one of the biggest reason why Manchester United believe they still have a chance to secure his services. The Red Devils have approached the player’s agents and the results of this meeting might give us a bit more clarity on Roque’s future.
