Manchester United pressing ahead with their move to sign Andre Onana

Manchester United are pushing hard to acquire the services of 27-year-old Inter Milan shot-stopper Andre Onana.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via SportWitness, Manchester United are keen on having Andre Onana in their ranks as soon as possible. The 27-year-old Inter Milan goalkeeper has been on their radar for a while now and they are looking to make decisive moves in the coming days.

The Red Devils were looking to sign a new shot-stopper irrespective of David de Gea’s future. But, now with the Spanish goalkeeper out of contract, the club have no other choice but to go all out to sign a new number one.

Manchester United were in talks with De Gea over a new contract for a while and the talks were progressing in the right direction. The Spain international even signed a new deal with the club but they withdrew the offer and didn’t counter-sign it.

The two parties haven’t reached an agreement yet and time has run out. De Gea is no longer under contract at United. He is a free agent who can join any club of his choice in the coming days.

With De Gea gone, they are in desperate need to sign a new shot-stopper. Meanwhile, Onana and Justin Bijlow are two of their targets. They have been monitoring the Dutch international of late and could push for his services.

While Bijlow is one of their targets, their priority is to sign the former Ajax goalkeeper. The Red Devils were supposed to meet with Inter general manager Piero Ausilio but because of Marcelo Brozovic’s indecision over a move to Saudi Arabia, the meeting couldn’t take place.

A meeting is expected to be held soon as United are in a hurry to sign the 27-year-old. Meanwhile, Inter are ready to let go of their number one who had joined them just a year back as a free agent. They have made it clear that the base offer should be at least €50 million plus bonuses.

While Manchester United have not made an official bid yet, they are expected to put forward an offer in the near future. With Ten Hag desperate for a new number one, the Red Devils could meet the asking price and land the former Ajax shot-stopper at the club.
