Liverpool are pushing hard to secure the services of 22-year-old OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram amid interest from Newcastle United.
Thuram came through the ranks at AS Monaco before joining OGC Nice back in the summer of 2019. He has gone from strength to strength since making the move. And, he is on the radar of multiple clubs from across Europe, including Liverpool.
The 22-year-old featured in a total of 48 matches last season. He was on the pitch for over 3,700 minutes, and he even contributed towards ten goals. It was yet another exceptional season for the French Under-21 star and the interest in his services is quite understandable.
While his contract at Nice runs until the summer of 2025, he is expected to be on the move in the ongoing season. The French club are open to the idea of selling him but only for the right price. Liverpool have been making moves to acquire him for a while now. The Merseyside club have already sorted out personal terms with the player. Thuram is ready to join Jurgen Klopp’s team.
Of late, the two clubs have been in discussion over the transfer fee, which is expected to be in the region of €40-45 million. And Liverpool are intensifying their efforts to land the youngster. Meanwhile, Newcastle United are also in the race for the signatures of Thuram. They have been interested in the 22-year-old for a while now and have finally decided to make moves.
Both Liverpool and Newcastle United are in search of reinforcement in the centre of the park. The Merseyside club are looking to execute a midfield overhaul after a disappointing season. Meanwhile, the Magpies are looking to build on an exceptional season where they managed to finish inside the top four.
