Newcastle United have reportedly made contact with Sevilla to find out the price tag of Moroccan striker Youssef En-Nesyri as Eddie Howe looks to further bolster his attacking department.
According to VAMOSMISEVILLA, Newcastle United have established contact with Sevilla and have asked them how much it would take to sign star striker Youssef En-Nesyri in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The Andalusian outfit are quite open to offloading the player, as they need to make cash via player sales in order to make their own moves in the market this summer. And the Moroccan striker will cost around €50 million this summer.
The report notes that Newcastle United are planning to spend big this summer as they gear up for their return to the Champions League, with a transfer kitty of around €300 million handed to manager Eddie Howe to boost his squad. It also mentions that Sevilla know the Magpies have the money to splash and will not sell their prized striker away for cheap, slapping a €50 million price tag on his head.
En-Nesyri has been a reliable goalscorer during his time in La Liga. The Morocco international has racked up 53 goals in 155 games in all competitions for Sevilla. That said, he has been a very streaky player lately.
He did not open his La Liga account until late January last season but was one of Europe’s hottest forwards in the second half of last season, finishing the season with an impressive tally of 18 goals in all competitions for Los Nervionenses as they finished 12th in La Liga and emerged victorious in the Europa League, where the Moroccan international proved clutch in big games against Manchester United and Juventus in the knockout rounds.
And that stellar scoring form appears to have alerted Newcastle United. Despite having two top strikers in Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak, who combined for 28 Premier League goals between them last season, Howe may be keen to add a third striking option after losing Chris Wood and with Champions League football on the cusp.
A tireless runner, imperious in the air, and dynamic in his movements, the Sevilla forward possesses all the attributes required to fit into Howe’s high-intensity system and is very similar to Alexander Isak in terms of physical build.
It is believed that the 26-year-old and his agent have made it clear to the UEFA Europa League winners that they want the club to listen to offers for him this summer, which also helps Newcastle United’s cause.
That said, it is difficult to see the Magpies spending the €50 million Sevilla are demanding on a third striker, with a wide forward, left-back, and right-sided centre-back reported to be more urgent priorities. But if they can drive down the Spanish side’s asking price significantly, there is a lot of value to have in this deal. It will be interesting to see how this rumour develops from here.
