Victor Nelsson has repeatedly asked Galatasary to accept Tottenam’s proposal to sign him this summer.
According to Hurriyet, Victor Nelsson wants an imminent exit from Galatasaray as Tottenham remains the favourites. The 24-year-old Danish defender has reportedly requested the club accept Spurs’ offer, slightly less than his €25 million release clause.
Tottenham are accelerating their plans to recruit quality players for different squad areas. After installing Ange Postecoglu as their new permanent manager, Spurs might look to appoint a new sporting director to get a better direction on transfer targets.
Yet, they are stepping up their efforts to sign at least two-three players the club have deemed necessary. For starters, they are keen on James Maddison from Leicester, while they are also looking at a new goalkeeper to replace Hugo Lloris.
A central defender also remains on the agenda, and after exploring several options, they have narrowed it down to Victor Nelsson. The 24-year-old Danish star has had a brilliant season with Galatasaray, who even persuaded him to stay last summer despite having a good proposal from Sevilla.
Nelsson wants a challenge in the Premier League, and Tottenham are among the teams keen to bring him to England. He has a €25 million release clause with the Turkish giants, which could appeal to many top teams to make an effort to sign him.
The 24-year-old already has the interest from Tottenham, who are serious about bringing the Dane to north London. They have already tabled a ‘serious offer’ for Nelsson, but Galatasaray are holding out for the entire release clause.
While the offer was slightly lower than what the report mentions, there’s speculation Spurs are willing to pay around €22 million. That’s €3 million short of his release clause, and Nelsson has now requested Galatasaray to accept the proposal.
He insisted on staying with them last summer under the impression of getting his chance to leave in this window. Galatasaray could lean towards accepting the request, which may see them land in funds to help their transfer proceedings for the summer.
Nelsson could improve the current Tottenham backline, which was shaky last season. They might go in for another centre-back, with talks about Clement Lenglet returning on a permanent deal also rife, while there are links to Marc Guehi.
