Tottenham keen on Porto winger Pepe

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in acquiring the services of 26-year-old FC Porto winger Pepe ahead of next season.

According to A Bola via SportWitness, Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Brazilian winger Pepe ahead of the 2023-24 season. Spurs are keen on bolstering their attack ahead of next season and they have identified the 26-year-old FC Porto forward as a potential target.

The Portuguese club acquired the services of Pepe from Grêmio back in the summer of 2021. The 26-year-old forward has gone from strength to strength since joining Porto. He has featured in a total of 97 matches and has 27 goal contributions. His numbers might be average but his performances have surely been exceptional.

In the 2022-23 season, the Brazilian winger had 10 assists and five goals in his 55 outings. He was the mainstay of their attack alongside Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi. On the back of his impressive performances, a lot of clubs are interested in pushing for his services.

And, as per the report, Spurs have already placed a bid to acquire the services of Pepe. Ever since the London club confirmed the appointment of Ange Postecoglou, they have been proactive in the market looking for potential targets that can bolster their squad.

Postecoglou is looking for a number of players in different positions to reinforce the Spurs squad. However, the Australian bosses’ priority is to further bolster his attack. Despite having some of the best attackers, they have heavily relied on star striker Harry Kane.

And, Spurs are keen on having someone who can share the load with the England international. Pepe is someone who will add goals and a lot of creativity to the mix. While he is on the radar of Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham have already made a move and could win the race for his services.

They have already placed a bid for the 26-year-old but it is likely to be rejected. Their offer is nowhere close to what the Portuguese club demand. They are asking clubs to trigger his release clause of €75 million and Tottenham’s offer is way below that mark.

With Porto asking for a sizeable price for the Brazilian winger, it will be interesting to see how Spurs react to the situation.
