Tottenham Hotspur have established contacts with the agents of Sofyan Amrabat as they look to land him at the club.
According to Mundo Deportivo via Sport Witness, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on acquiring the services of Sofyan Amrabat. The 26-year-old has been in sensational form over the past few seasons and he is on the radar of multiple top clubs from across Europe.
Given the amount of interest in his services, there is likely to be a bidding war for him. Barcelona are one of the clubs that have been linked with the Fiorentina midfielder for a while now.
The Catalan giants even tried to sign him back in January but they failed to get a deal over the line. Fiorentina rejected their proposal as they had no intentions of letting him leave mid-season.
The main reason behind all the interest in him was his sensational performance at the FIFA World Cup 2022. The 26-year-old was the mainstay of the Morrocan team that created history and became the first African nation to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.
Meanwhile, the defensive midfielder has been putting in impressive shifts all throughout the season for his club. And, Barcelona still retain their interest in the Fiorentina midfielder. But, they are all set to face tough competition from Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs have been monitoring the 26-year-old for a while. And, they are keen on adding him to the mix ahead of next season. The London-based club want to add a high-quality midfielder who can help shield their back line and his recent performances suggest, he could do wonders for them.
While his contract expires in 2024 and there is an option to extend it by 12 months, it is pretty much certain that the 26-year-old will leave ahead of next season. There is a base price of €20 million for his services which is likely to rise given the number of clubs that will enter a bidding war.
While the player prefers joining Barcelona, the Catalan giants cannot really afford to outbid Spurs given their financial situation. As a result, Spurs do have an upper hand in the race and they have already established contacts with the player’s entourage to discuss a potential deal.
