Chelsea defender Reece James, whose market value is €70 million, reportedly wants to join Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet El Debate, Reece James is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. And Los Blancos should have a good chance of signing the Chelsea defender in the summer transfer window. The English international is keen on moving to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Reece James has been one of the best full-backs in the world since breaking through at Chelsea. The 23-year-old was one of several academy products who benefitted from Frank Lampard’s youth-oriented approach during a difficult time in Chelsea’s history. And he is now a pivotal figure for his club and country.
But a spate of injuries hampered the English international considerably in the 2022/23 season. And James managed less than 2,000 minutes of game time, with his campaign ending early due to another fitness issue. But despite his woes, the player remains a hot property in the market, with Real Madrid among his prospective suitors.
It will be sensible of Real Madrid to invest in a right-back in the summer transfer window. While Dani Carvajal is not going anywhere, his performance levels have dipped considerably in the last few years. In addition, Lucas Vazquez has blown hot and cold in the season gone by. So it behoves Real Madrid to sign a right-back this year.
Reece James has thus emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid. But widespread reports claimed that the Chelsea defender will unlikely join Real Madrid this summer. Meanwhile, a few other updates pointed to Los Blancos deferring the move for the 23-year-old until 2025. But signing him this summer might be possible.
The report claims that James is keen on joining Real Madrid, presumably this summer. And such opportunities present themselves once in a while. So the Merengues have the chance to solve their right-back issues for at least the next decade.

Apart from James, Achraf Hakimi is a top right-back target for Real Madrid. But the Chelsea wide man appears to be one of the front-runners to bolster Los Blancos’ full-back options. It will be interesting to see where the English international plies his trade next season.
