Eintracht Frankfurt interested in Victor Lindelof, summer move ruled out

Eintracht Frankfurt are interested in acquiring the services of Victor Lindelof but Manchester United are not ready to sell.

According to the BILD, Eintracht Frankfurt are keen on having Victor Lindelof in their ranks ahead of next season. The 28-year-old has been on their radar for a while now but they might not be able to fulfil their ambition with Manchester United in no mood to let him leave.

Lindelof joined United back in the summer of 2017 when Jose Mourinho signed him from Benfica for a fee of €35 million. The Sweden international has been an important part of their first team ever since he arrived at the club.

He went from strength to strength over the years and was an integral part of their first team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. But, post Solskjaer’s departure he went down the pecking order. And, in the first half of the season under Erik ten Hag, the 28-year-old hardly made any appearances.

With Lindelof surplus to requirements, Eintracht Frankfurt came calling for his services. The German club wanted to loan him in mid-way through the season. But, Ten Hag decided to keep hold of the player until the end of the season with United still alive in four competitions.

While the 28-year-old had only made a handful of appearances in the first half of the season, he was a rock in their defence in the second half. An injury to Lisandro Martínez gave him an extended run towards the end of the season and he has managed to impress the Dutch manager.

And, on the back of the impressive performances, Ten Hag is keen on having him in his squad for next season. Despite being denied the opportunity to sign Lindelof on loan in the winter, Frankfurt didn’t lose hope.

They recently made United aware of their interest in the 28-year-old’s services ahead of next season. But, according to reports, they do not stand a chance to sign him. The German club are looking to replace Evan Ndicka who will leave for free and wanted to bring in the Sweden international.

But, they will have to look elsewhere as Manchester United are not interested in letting Lindelof leave after the former Benfica star’s impressive run in the second half of the season. Their manager Ten Hag counts on the 28-year-old for next season.
