Manchester United are interested in acquiring the services of 21-year-old Goncalo Inacio who is on the radar of Liverpool.
According to O Jogo via SportWitness, Manchester United are interested in signing Goncalo Inacio in the summer. The 21-year-old has had a sensational rise over the past year and he is on the radar of some of the biggest clubs across Europe.
Inacio joined the youth academy of Sporting CP back in 2012. He has come through the ranks at some pace and was promoted to their first team back in the summer of 2020. Over the past few seasons, he has taken his game to the next level.
The 21-year-old has been the mainstay of the Portuguese club’s defence. He has been involved in 52 matches in the ongoing season and also has 7 goal contributions.
Inacio’s performances have attracted a lot of attention of late. Despite having a contract with Sporting that runs until the summer of 2026, the Portugal international could be on the move in the upcoming transfer window.
There is a €45 million release clause in his contract which could lead to his departure from the Portuguese club. Meanwhile, Manchester United are one of the club that could push for his services in the summer.
Scouts of the Red Devils were present in the stands to watch Sporting CP take on Vizela on Friday night. They kept a close eye on the 21-year-old defender who managed to put in an impressive shift and even scored a goal to help his side win 2-1.
Reports suggest that United have been scouting him for a while now and they could push for his services in the summer. But, with them pushing hard for the services of Napoli’s Kim Min-jae it won’t really make sense to go all out for Inacio.
However, the fact they have secured Champions League football gives them the financial power to execute a complete defensive overhaul. Meanwhile, they are not alone in the race, Liverpool have been interested in Inacio for a while now.
The Reds have had a disappointing season and are looking to reinforce their squad ahead of next season. While their priority is to sign multiple midfielders, they are also keen on strengthening their defence and Inacio is an ideal candidate.
With United and Liverpool keen on having the 21-year-old in their ranks, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
