Burnley want to acquire the services of 23-year-old Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga on loan ahead of next season.
According to Football Insider, Burnley want to sign Albert Sambi Lokonga in the upcoming transfer window. The recently-promoted club want to bolster their squad ahead of next season, and they are keen on bringing the Arsenal midfielder to Turf Moor on loan.
Lokonga came through the ranks at RSC Anderlecht before joining the Gunners back in the summer of 2021. While he did get a few opportunities to leave his mark, the 23-year-old failed to establish himself as a first-team regular.
Mikel Arteta could not assure the former Anderlecht midfielder enough game time. As a result, he sent him out on loan to Crystal Palace in the winter window of the ongoing season.
He has made a total of 24 appearances in the ongoing season, nine of which have come for the Eagles. The 23-year-old has failed to make an impact, and he is all set to return to his parent club in the summer. However, his situation at Arsenal is unlikely to improve and he might push for a move away from the club.
Meanwhile, Burnley are keen on having him in their ranks. The Clarets are all set to return to the Premier League after an incredible season in the EFL Championship. Vincent Kompany has done wonders since taking charge of the club and he has started planning for the upcoming season in the English top flight.
Kompany is a big fan of the 23-year-old and believes he could help his side survive in the Premier League against some of the best clubs in the world. The Belgian manager has worked with Lokonga during his early days at Anderlecht.
He is well aware of the potential the 23-year-old has and wants him at the club ahead of next season. Burnley have started talks with Arsenal over a loan-to-buy deal for the midfielder. With Arsenal ready to part ways with the Belgian international, we might see him reunite with former boss Kompany at Burnley.
