Tottenham plot Tiago Pinto swoop, Paulo Dybala might arrive along with transfer guru

Tottenham are keen on appointing AS Roma director Tiago Pinto as Fabio Paratici’s successor, with the Portuguese likely to bring Paulo Dybala.

According to Calciomercatoweb, Tottenham have set sights on Tiago Pinto to become their new sporting director. The Portuguese executive could leave AS Roma in the summer and bring €12 million-rated Paulo Dybala to north London.

Tottenham have plenty of problems to deal with ahead of what is described as their most crucial summer. The North Londoners have fallen off a cliff with their performances this season and all the controversy surrounding the club.

They had this massive public fallout with former manager Antonio Conte, leading to his dismissal. To make matters worse, former sporting director Fabio Paratici was given a 30-month worldwide ban from footballing activities for his role in the Juventus debacle.

Those issues and performances on the pitch have led to Spurs fighting for a UEFA Europa Conference League spot. Tottenham were one of the favourites to make it into the top four considering the vast sums they spent last summer on top players.

For now, Tottenham’s priority is to find a new manager after recent failures in luring their top targets like Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann. They broke down talks with the latter following an inquest into his demands, which included knowledge of who their new sporting director might be.

Names like Feyenoord’s Arne Slot remain linked. But Spurs could switch their attention towards bringing in a new director first. The new executive could help the club guide in the right direction regarding player recruitment and have an insight into the new incoming manager.

The report suggests the AS Roma man would prefer to appoint Thiago Motta as Tottenham’s new manager if he had the powers. Whether that goes along with what Daniel Levy thinks remains the question. Moreover, the report also claims the 38-year-old transfer guru could bring Paulo Dybala along with him to north London.

Having Dybala in this Tottenham team could become a tempting prospect. The World Cup winner has had an excellent season under Jose Mourinho and is available on the cheap owing to a cut-price release clause in his contract.

Teams outside of Italy can sign the World Cup winner for as low as €12 million, while Serie A clubs will have to shell out €20 million. For that price, Dybala could become a key signing for Spurs, with fans crying out for a classy wide attacker in their setup.

Dybala has plenty of interest from Premier League sides. But Tottenham could face the biggest challenge from Chelsea, who are keen on the €12 million-rated World Cup winner. While the Argentine could open his doors for a move to England, much will come down to the offers he receives on the table.

With the 38-year-old transfer guru Pinto, Spurs could gain an advantage if they are keen on signing Dybala. The Roma executive was instrumental in luring the €12 million-rated World Cup winner to the Italian capital last summer when some of the biggest teams were interested.
