Barcelona and Real Madrid are reportedly vying for Bayern Munich utility man Joshua Kimmich, whose market value is €80 million.
According to reputed German journalist Kerry Hau, Barcelona and Real Madrid hold a long-standing interest in Joshua Kimmich. The two La Liga heavyweights are keen on signing the Bayern Munich utility man. But the Bundesliga champions are not interested in selling the player, whose market value is €80 million.
Joshua Kimmich has seen his stock and market value skyrocket since joining Bayern Munich from VfB Stuttgart in July 2015. The 28-year-old was a promising right-back with aspirations of becoming a world-class midfielder. And Pep Guardiola harnessed his potential before he became an elite holding midfielder.
The German international is one of the best midfielders in the world today, emulating Bayern Munich legend Philipp Lahm. Meanwhile, he has seen his market value soar to €80 million in the last eight years. And Kimmich’s progress has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Kerry Hau has claimed that Barcelona and Real Madrid hold a long-standing interest in the player. And it is hardly surprising that both La Liga heavyweights want to sign someone like Kimmich. That is because Barcelona and Real Madrid have issues in their midfield units and at right-back.
While Barcelona’s search for Dani Alves’s heir has not ended for nearly a decade, they will see Sergio Busquets departing this summer. And Kimmich’s qualities make him a like-for-like successor to the long-serving Barcelona midfielder. In addition, he can also be a long-term right-back solution for the Blaugrana.
As for Real Madrid, the outgoing La Liga champions have made previous attempts to secure Kimmich’s services. And with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos approaching the end of their glittering careers, Real Madrid will need a top-class midfield solution. And while he can also replace Dani Carvajal at right-back, he will be of better use in the middle of the park.

But Bayern Munich will not entertain any offers for the 28-year-old, even if the bids exceed his market value of €80 million. Kimmich does not have a price tag, with the Bundesliga champions viewing him as their next captain. So Barcelona and Real Madrid will have to set their sights elsewhere, with the German utility man not for sale.
