Manchester United set to part ways with Axel Tuanzebe

Manchester United are all set to part ways with their 25-year-old defender Axel Tuanzebe ahead of next season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Axel Tuanzebe will leave Manchester United after the end of the ongoing season. The 25-year-old defender has failed to break into their first team, and his time in Manchester is about to end in the near future.

Tuanzebe has been a part of the Manchester United setup since his childhood days. He came through the ranks at the club and was promoted to their first team back in the summer of 2017. Despite making it to their first team very early in his career, the 25-year-old has failed to become a regular.

The Manchester United defender has only made a total of 37 appearances for the senior team over the years. While he was considered a great prospect for the future, the 25-year-old has failed to live up to the expectations.

Tuanzebe has spent a lot of time out on loan. He has had loan spells at Aston Villa, Napoli and Stoke City. And, despite putting in decent shifts while out on loan, the English centre-back has failed to force himself into the United first team.

The 25-year-old is currently out on loan at Stoke City. He joined them at the start of the year and has since featured in five matches for them. The Manchester United graduate will return to his parent club in the summer. But, his contract with the Red Devils runs out after the end of the season. And, the club are not looking to extend his stay at Old Trafford.

They are willing to let him leave as a free agent. Even the player is not looking to stay at United. He wants to try his luck elsewhere. Tuanzebe is way down in the pecking order of Ten Hag. And with the Manchester United manager keen on further bolstering his defence ahead of next season, the 25-year-old is unlikely to be in his plans.

As a result, looking to move away in search of greener pastures seems to be a sensible decision. According to Romano, both parties are on the same page when it comes to Tuanzebe’s future. The club as well as the player’s entourage are all set to part ways. And, with that, his 18-year-long stay at Manchester United is about to end.
