Donny van de Beek looking to leave Manchester United

Donny van de Beek, the former Ajax star midfielder, wants to part ways with Manchester United ahead of next season.

According to a report by Fichajes, Donny van de Beek is all set to part ways with Manchester United. The 26-year-old never really got going at United and his time at the club is about to end ahead of next season.

Van de Beek had a sensational season with Ajax back in the day, where they managed to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League. It was a bunch of young superstars who surpassed all expectations and delivered on the world stage.

Their performances attracted a lot of attention and we witnessed quite a few big money moves. One such move saw the 26-year-old join Manchester United for a fee of €40 million. The Dutch international joined them in the summer of 2020. The former Ajax star was expected to take the world by storm at Manchester United. But he has failed to live up to the expectations.

The 26-year-old has been involved in 60 matches during his time at Manchester United but has failed to deliver. He has been involved in just four goals. The Dutch midfielder was also sent out on loan to Everton but even that move did not help his cause.

However, he was expected to get an extended run in the team after the arrival of Erik ten Hag. The Dutch manager had already worked with him at Ajax. While everyone expected van de Beek to return to his best under Ten Hag, that has not really happened.

The 26-year-old is way down in the pecking order of the Dutch boss. And, he has been involved in just 10 matches in which he has accumulated a total of 292 minutes. His game time at Manchester United is unlikely to improve and with them likely to add another midfielder to the mix, looking for a new club elsewhere is the only logical option that Van de Beek has.

While his contract at Manchester United runs until the summer of 2025, the club are ready to part ways with the 26-year-old if they receive a decent offer for his services. And, as per reports, there are clubs in Germany and Italy that are willing to bet on the former Ajax star midfielder.
