Achraf Hakimi wants Real Madrid return

Achraf Hakimi reportedly wants to quit Paris Saint-Germain and return to Real Madrid, although any move could create unusual complications.

Fichajes claims Achraf Hakimi wants a return to Real Madrid in the summer. The high-profile World Cup semi-finalist is open to leaving Paris Saint-Germain. Still, any negotiations between the two clubs could re-open a complicated door that was shut some time ago.

Achraf Hakimi will reflect on the season in the summer and might only see the success achieved with Morocco in Qatar. The World Cup semi-finalist had a tremendous outing with his national side, but his club form has dwindled for quite some time.

Hakimi started his Paris Saint-Germain career brightly. But since the arrival of Christophe Galtier, his performances have declined. The 24-year-old has received plenty of criticism this season for many questionable displays, which has not created a favourable atmosphere for the defender.

He has failed to adapt to Galtier’s system of playing with four defenders. Tactically, it has restricted the full-back in the attacking game he was so revered for. Hence, his situation has led to speculation that Hakimi wants to quit Paris Saint-Germain in the summer for a new challenge.

There have been links to the Premier League, with Manchester United being one of the clubs linked with a move. The World Cup semi-finalist would come at a heavy price for whichever team shows an interest in signing him.

Chelsea were also keen at some stage, but the Blues are unlikely to make a concrete approach anytime. Now, the report claims that Hakimi wants a return to former side Real Madrid in the summer and revisit his career at the Bernabeu.

Hakimi spent his formative years with Real Madrid. He has since played a season each at Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan while turning up for Paris Saint-Germain for two seasons. While Real Madrid does hold an interest, if he does want to return to the Spanish capital, it may open a complicated door that was shut a while ago.

Real Madrid and PSG do not have the best relations after their debacle with Kylian Mbappe. While the Frenchman eventually chose to remain and sign a new contract in Paris, speculation about a future move to Madrid continues.

Considering their past, PSG would not allow Hakimi to depart on the cheap, particularly to Madrid. While the Spanish giants are reportedly open to making an important financial offer, PSG could force them to back out of the race altogether with big demands.

Any move seems complicated for Hakimi and a possible return to Real Madrid. A deal could still materialise, but it would involve opening a new level of complications between the two parties.
