Tottenham Hotspur are interested in acquiring the services of 21-year-old Southampton shot-stopper Gavin Bazunu.
According to a report by Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on having Gavin Bazunu in their ranks. The 21-year-old shot-stopper has been impressive in the ongoing season despite his team’s struggles and he is on the radar of Spurs, who are currently on the lookout for a new number one.
Bazunu came through the ranks at Manchester City but failed to make it into their first team. He decided to join Southampton ahead of the ongoing season. And, the 21-year-old has managed to make 37 appearances for the Saints so far. While he might have conceded 61, he also has five clean sheets to his name.
The former Manchester City keeper might not have the numbers to back up his performances. But he has surely impressed a lot of clubs across Europe. While Alex McCarthy might have replaced him in the Southampton goal in the last three fixtures, the 21-year-old surely has a bright future.
Meanwhile, Spurs are interested in having him at their disposal. The London club are looking for a new goalkeeper. Hugo Lloris has been Spurs’ number one for quite a few years now but his performances have declined of late.
The French World Cup winner has struggled with injuries and he has made quite a few errors in the ongoing season. Lloris’s future at Spurs is uncertain, they are likely to offload him in the summer. And, as per reports, there is a Saudi club willing to pay him triple the wages that he earns at this point in time.
With Lloris’s performances on the decline, Tottenham are looking for a new number nine. They believe Bazunu has the qualities to be their number one. And, Tottenham have been monitoring him for a while now.
Spurs are all set to bid for him in the summer. They are looking to prise him away from Southampton just a year after he joined them. With the Saints likely to get relegated, they might have a decent chance of acquiring his services.
