Arsenal could break the bank with a €70 million offer for the 20-year-old Valencia CF midfielder Yunus Musah.
According to a report by Fichajes, Arsenal are interested in acquiring the services of Yunus Musah. The 20-year-old American midfielder has been doing wonders for the last few seasons. And, his performances have not gone unnoticed. A lot of top clubs from across Europe are keen on having him in their ranks.
Musah was a part of the Arsenal youth setup from 2012 to 2019. He came through the ranks at the club but things were not really working out for him. As a result, he decided to move to Spain. La Liga club Valencia acquired his services in the summer of 2019.
The 20-year-old got off to a flying start at the Spanish club. He made it to their first team in a year’s time. The American international has been a key part of their first team for the past few seasons. He has featured in a total of 104 matches and has eight goal contributions.
As far as the ongoing season is concerned, the 20-year-old has featured in 34 matches and has two assists to his name. While his numbers might not be that great, Musah has been the mainstay of their team. And, he has been putting in consistent performances in the centre of the park.
Meanwhile, he is on the radar of the Gunners. Arsenal are keen on re-signing him. And, as per reports, they are willing to spend around €70 million for the American international.
Mikel Arteta is keen on bolstering his midfield ahead of next season as he looks to push for the Premier League title once again. And, with the Gunners all set to feature in the Champions League, they do need a lot more quality to be competitive in both competitions.
Musah could be a great acquisition for Arsenal as he is a versatile player who can feature in numerous positions. The 20-year-old is capable enough to feature anywhere in the midfield and can also be deployed as a winger if needed.
However, he is not their first priority. The Gunners will push for Declan Rice in the summer as they look to strengthen their midfield. But, they are well aware of the amount of competition for his services. And, if they fail to land the West Ham United midfielder, Arteta’s men will shift their focus towards the 20-year-old.
But, they will face competition from Liverpool. The Merseyside club are keen on a midfield overhaul in the summer as they look to revive themselves. Jurgen Klopp’s team will push for multiple midfielders in the upcoming window and Musah is one of the names on their transfer target list. With Liverpool and Arsenal set to lock horns, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
