Mateu Alemany has advised Aston Villa to sign the 26-year-old Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie in the summer.
According to a report by Fichajes, Aston Villa could push for the signatures of Franck Kessie. Mateu Alemany has suggested Unai Emery to push for the 26-year-old Barcelona midfielder. Villa are expected to make moves for multiple star players in the summer as they look to take the next step under their Spanish boss.
Alemany is currently the director of football at FC Barcelona. But, he is set to join Aston Villa after the end of the season. He will take care of Barcelona’s business in the upcoming window. However, that has not stopped him from suggesting to his future club what kind of business they should do in the summer.
The 60-year-old has suggested Aston Villa to sign Kessie in the summer. The 26-year-old came through the ranks at Atalanta BC before making a move to AC Milan. He had a good spell with the Italian giants when Barcelona came calling.
Kessie joined the Catalan giants ahead of the ongoing season. Initially, he did not have much game time under Xavi. But of late, he has started to showcase his talent. And, Kessie has become an integral part of their first team. The Ivory Coast international has featured in 39 matches and has 6 goal involvements. He has been on the pitch for just over 1,600 minutes.
His contract at the club runs until the summer of 2026. And, he is an important player for their team. However, they could still consider his sale in the upcoming window. The Barcelona are going through a financial crisis and they need to offload players before signing new ones. As a result, Aston Villa might have a chance in their pursuit of the 26-year-old, whose market value is €28 million.
Kessie is a versatile player who can feature as a central midfielder as well as a defensive midfielder. He can be a great asset for Unai Emery’s team who are looking to take the next step in the upcoming season. The 26-year-old could do wonders in the centre of the park for Aston Villa, as a result, they might go ahead with Alemany’s suggestion.
