Barcelona will not pay €40 million for Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, a target for Arsenal and Tottenham.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona cannot match Inter Milan’s asking price for Marcelo Brozovic. The Serie A giants want €40 million to part ways with the Croat. Meanwhile, the veteran midfielder is a target for Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
Marcelo Brozovic has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Serie A since joining Inter Milan from Dinamo Zagreb. At the same time, the Croatian international has been a pivotal figure for his national side. And despite being on the wrong side of 30, he remains a consistent performer for the Nerazzurri.
The 30-year-old has turned out over 300 times thus far for Inter Milan, chipping in with 30 goals and 40 assists. Meanwhile, despite Brozovic’s advancing years, he is a target for several high-profile clubs. And Barcelona, Arsenal, and Tottenham are among his prospective suitors.
Barcelona will head into the summer transfer window searching for a midfield reinforcement. That is because Sergio Busquets is approaching the final phase of his glittering career. In addition, Franck Kessie faces an uncertain future at Spotify Camp Nou. Brozovic has thus emerged as a viable target for Barcelona.
But Barcelona cannot afford Brozovic’s signature, with €40 million beyond the Catalan club’s means. That is perhaps why they have been considering a part-exchange deal to sign the Inter Milan midfielder. However, if the Serie A giants insist on recouping the asking price, Barcelona might have to bow out of the race. That will serve as a boost for Arsenal and Tottenham.
Arsenal will look to sign a midfielder this summer, as Mikel Arteta is eager to beef up his options ahead of the Gunners’ return to the UEFA Champions League. On the other hand, Tottenham will target the 30-year-old as they need more creativity from deeper areas on the pitch.

It will be interesting to see if Barcelona can convince Inter Milan to agree to a part-exchange deal. If not, it will not be surprising if Arsenal and Tottenham offer €40 million to secure Brozovic’s services in the summer transfer window.
