Arsenal open talks to sign Mason Mount

Arsenal have opened talks to sign the 24-year-old Chelsea star midfielder Mason Mount ahead of next season.

According to the GOAL, Arsenal have opened talks to sign Mason Mount. The Chelsea midfielder’s future is uncertain, and there are chances that he could make a move in the summer. There are quite a few clubs monitoring his situation and they could push for him in the upcoming transfer window.

Mount has been a part of Chelsea since his childhood days. He has come through the ranks and has become an integral part of their first team. The 24-year-old played a pivotal role in their Champions League triumph a few years back.

While he still remains an important member of their first-team squad, his future at the club is uncertain. Mount’s contract at the club runs until the summer of 2024. With just over a year left in his contract, the Blues have tried to pen down a new deal with the 24-year-old on multiple occasions. However, they have not managed to succeed yet.

The player wants pay parity with the club’s highest earners. However, the Blues are not willing to provide him with such a contract. And, Chelsea are now considering offloading him in the summer as they do not want to lose out on him for free in the following summer window.

There are quite a few Premier League clubs interested in the 24-year-old’s services. And, Arsenal are one of them. The Gunners have done wonders in the ongoing season. They were leading the race for the Premier League title for the majority of the time and are all set to feature in the UEFA Champions League next season.

Mikel Arteta has identified that he needs reinforcement in the centre of the park. He wants to add more quality to his midfield rotation. Arteta is a big fan of Mount, and he believes adding the 24-year-old could bolster his squad. Mount can help him push for the league title again and can also help them go a long way in the UCL. They have already held discussions about the Chelsea midfielder.

The England international is a proven Premier League asset who will surely add a lot of quality to the Arsenal ranks. He is just 24 and his best is yet to come. As a result, pushing for the Chelsea midfielder is quite sensible from the Gunners. However, it will be interesting to see if the Blues are willing to let a homegrown player join a rival club.
