Tottenham are considering terminating the £200,000-a-week contract of Tanguy Ndombele as his value continues to plummet.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham could terminate the contract of Tanguy Ndombele and pay off the midfielder to leave. The £200,000-a-week midfielder remains on the books until 2025, with the club left to decide his future after two unsuccessful loan spells.
Tottenham made a statement of intent when they emerged as front-runners to sign the then-in-demand midfielder Tanguy Ndombele in 2019. The signing was considered a coup, keeping in mind the clubs interested in landing him from Lyon.
Tottenham paid over £55 million to bring him, with the Frenchman signing a six-year £200,000-a-week deal. Fans have barely seen anything close to the best he can produce in his four years, although the last 18 months have been spent on loan elsewhere.
Spurs inserted a big purchase option when Lyon took Ndombele back on loan. But his performances did not warrant them to take up the idea. Antonio Conte made it abundantly clear he did not see the £200,000-a-week midfielder in his plans and swiftly sent him on another loan spell, this time to Napoli.

After a bright start to life, Napoli even pondered taking up the option early. However, the club chiefs will have seen the wisdom in waiting until the season ends to make that decision. Ndombele’s bright start has since fizzled out, and he remains on the fringes of Luciano Spalletti’s side.
He only has two starts since November, as Spalletti’s men race towards the Serie A crown. As things stand, Napoli are unlikely to sign him permanently, meaning Ndombele will return to Tottenham during the summer, albeit as a champion of Italy. Spurs are already in the market for a new midfielder in the Frenchman’s position.
Tottenham are aware of his plummeting value and may not make another attempt to sell him in the market. They are considering terminating the player’s contract and paying him off to leave. The report is somewhat baffling, considering the Frenchman still has two years to go.

Spurs can easily find a solution in the market and will hope for someone to take Ndombele off their hands in the summer. However, the £200,000-a-week wages may prove a stumbling block, especially if the midfielder refuses to take a considerable pay cut to play elsewhere.
