Liverpool have had a disappointing Premier League season this year, and they want to correct that by signing Bruno Guimaraes.
It appears that Liverpool are looking to bring in significant midfield reinforcements in the summer. And they have identified the Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes as a target, according to Fichajes.
The 25-year-old Brazilian is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, and he could prove to be an exceptional signing for Liverpool. However, he has a long-term contract with Newcastle United. So Liverpool would have to pay a premium to secure his services.
Furthermore, the player might not be keen on forcing a move out of Newcastle United either because the Magpies are set to play in the Champions League next season. Meanwhile, his market value has soared to around €60 million.
In theory, the 25-year-old would have been the ideal midfielder for Jurgen Klopp. The Brazilian has the work ethic, tactical discipline, and technical ability to fit into the Liverpool midfielder alongside Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara. He would have added some much-needed defensive discipline and the ability to create attacking transitions from the deep.
Newcastle United are one of the richest clubs in the world and they have an attractive project at their disposal. It seems unlikely that the Brazilian will look to leave them anytime soon. Liverpool should look to focus their attention elsewhere as they look to bring in multiple reinforcements in the middle of the park.
Klopp is set to lose players like Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and James Milner this summer. All three players will be free agents and the club have decided not to renew their contracts.
The Reds will not only have to replace three players. But they will also have to bring in alternatives for players like Jordan Henderson, who have regressed significantly. The Liverpool captain is a shadow of his former self and he does not deserve to start every week.
