According to Football Insider, Ross County’s Dylan Smith has serious admirers from the Premier League, including Newcastle United. The English side has watched the 16-year-old defensive prodigy several times and remains intent on beating Everton for his signature.
Dylan Smith has seen an exponential rise in Scottish football, as some of his recent performances have not gone unnoticed. The 16-year-old defensive prodigy remains the youngest player in the Scottish Premiership this season and has several admirers from south of the border.
Smith has been promoted to the first-team squad during the season and has now started the last four games for Ross County. Newcastle United’s head of youth recruitment, Paul Midgley, was in attendance to watch the 16-year-old defensive prodigy take part against Hearts.
While the game ended in a 6-1 hammering defeat for Ross County, the defender did enough to impress onlookers. At such a young age, he has cemented his place in the starting lineup for his club, showcasing the player’s maturity.
Many in Scotland have also pencilled him to have an accomplished career. Interest from English sides continues to grow, as Everton and Sheffield Wednesday scouts were also present for a recent game against Aberdeen to watch him.
Everton are keen to bolster their ranks with young stars who have the promise to climb up the ladder and become a first-team member. Smith has recently done that through ‘merit’ and has been amply rewarded for his performances with consistent starts in the first team.
