Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in acquiring the services of 24-year-old Sporting CP star Marcus Edwards.
According to a report by 90min, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Marcus Edwards ahead of next season. The 24-year-old has done wonders in the ongoing season and there are quite a few clubs interested in his services.
Meanwhile, representatives of both clubs were present at the Estadio Jose Alvalade to watch Sporting CP go up against Juventus in the UEFA Europa League. And, they kept a close eye on the 24-year-old as they look to push for his signatures in the summer.
While Sporting failed to progress to the next round, Edwards surely did a good job for his team as they managed to hold Juventus to a 1-1 draw. The England Under-20 star found himself on the score sheet as he converted from the spot.
Edwards started off at the Spurs youth academy. He came through the ranks at the club and was also subject to multiple loan moves. However, the 24-year-old failed to break into the first team. And, ended up leaving the club back in the summer of 2019.
The Sporting CP attacking midfielder has gone from strength to strength since leaving the London club. He joined the Portuguese club in the winter of 2022. And, has been performing exceptionally since then. As far as the ongoing season is concerned, the 24-year-old has 24 goal contributions in 45 outings.
His performances have resulted in a lot of interest. Tottenham are keen on bringing him back to the club. The London club have been poor in the ongoing season, they have failed to end their trophy drought. And, have also parted ways with their manager Antonio Conte.
While they are on the look for a new manager, they have already started planning for the summer. And, Edwards is one of their transfer targets. They believe the 24-year-old could help end their trophy drought. He could add a lot of creative flair as well as goals to the mix.
However, Spurs will face competition from the Merseyside club for the England Under-20 star. Liverpool have struggled because of an inconsistent midfield. And, they are looking to sign multiple midfielders ahead of next season.
Edwards is a part of their transfer target list and they are expected to push for his services in the summer. Jurgen Klopp is keen on signing an attack-minded midfielder and he would love to have the 24-year-old in his ranks. And, the fact that he can play in multiple attacking positions makes him a very exciting option to have in your arsenal.
