Aston Villa are looking to sign 24-year-old French international midfielder Matteo Guendouzi at the end of the season.
According to a report from L’Eqiuipe, as relayed by Sport Witness, Aston Villa have been keeping tabs on 24-year-old French midfielder Matteo Guendouzi for a while. And Unai Emery wants to bring the World Cup finalist back to the Premier League at the end of the season.
Guendouzi was linked with a move to the West Midlands club during the January transfer window as well. It seems that Emery has not given up on the player and he wants to sign him at the end of the season. The opportunity to return to the Premier League and work with his former manager could be an exciting opportunity for the midfielder.
But it remains to be seen whether Aston Villa can agree on a fee with Marseille. The midfielder was valued at €40 million earlier this season. But his performances for Marseille have not been convincing this season. So his value is likely to drop at the end of the season. Meanwhile, his market value stands at €25 million
Aston Villa will be hoping to snap the 24-year-old up for a reasonable price and help him develop into a top-class player. Emery knows all about the Frenchman, having worked with him at Arsenal. And the Spanish manager could bring out the best in him once again.
There is no doubt that Guendouzi is a prodigiously talented player with a big future ahead of him. He could develop into a quality Premier League midfielder under the right manager. Aston Villa need to add more technical ability and composure in the middle of the park. Guendouzi could be the ideal partner for someone like Douglas Luiz at the heart of the Aston Villa midfield.
Emery needs to bring in a controller, and the Frenchman will help Aston Villa dominate proceedings in the middle of the park. The 24-year-old is used to Premier League football, and he could make an immediate impact at the West Midlands club next season.
