Aston Villa keen on Divock Origi

Aston Villa are keen on signing 27-year-old former Liverpool striker Divock Origi ahead of next season.

According to The Sun, Aston Villa are interested in signing Divock Origi in the summer. The 27-year-old has not had the best of times in the ongoing season and might be on the look for a new club. Meanwhile, Villa are keen on bolstering their attack and they have Origi on their radar.

The Belgian international was a part of the Liverpool squad for years before he made a move to AC Milan ahead of the ongoing season. He joined the Merseyside club back in the summer of 2014. The 27-year-old featured in 175 matches for them and was involved in 59 goals.

He also helped them win the Champions League title and the Premier League title during his time at the club. While he did have his fair share of moments, the 27-year-old never really became a first-team regular for Jurgen Klopp’s team. And, he decided to make a move to the Italian giants.

But, things have not gone according to plan for the former Liverpool striker. He has only started a handful of Serie A games this season. While he has featured in 28 matches in all competitions, Origi has been on the pitch for less than 1,000 minutes.

The 27-year-old has struggled to impress in the ongoing season having found the back of the net just twice. And, his limited game time hasn’t done him any good either. Despite his disappointing run in the ongoing season, there are a few Premier League clubs willing to be on him.

Aston Villa are looking to further bolster their attack ahead of next season. Unai Emery has turned around their fortunes since arriving at the club. And, he wants to add a striker to his ranks to bolster his attack.

The Spanish manager believes adding another forward is a must to take his team to the next level. Origi has the experience of playing in the English top flight and he could be a great addition to the Villa setup.
