Manchester United will have to pay £150 million to secure the signatures of Brighton duo, Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo.
According to Football Insider, Manchester United are interested in signing Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo ahead of next season. Erik ten Hag is keen on reinforcing his midfield and has his eyes set on the Brighton & Hove Albion duo.
The Seagulls have done wonders in the ongoing season. They are currently seventh in the Premier League and are pushing for a first-ever European qualification. Caicedo and Mac Allister have been key to their strong performance in the ongoing season. And, Brighton are well aware of the rising interest in their services and the fact that bids will arrive in the summer.
Arsenal tried signing the Ecuador international in the winter. But, their bid was rejected as Brighton were not interested in letting Caicedo leave midway through the season. The 21-year-old recently signed a new contract. But that will not stand in his way if the right offer arrives as per reports.
Caicedo’s first full season in the Premier League has seen him feature in 27 matches. Meanwhile, Argentine World Cup winner Mac Allister has notched up nine goal contributions in his 25 league outings. The duo has been in red-hot form, and the interest in their services is quite understandable.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are keen on signing new midfielders in the summer. The future of Scott McTominay is uncertain, and Marcel Sabitzer is all set to return to his parent club Bayern Munich after the end of the season. As a result, ten Hag is keen on bringing Caicedo and Mac Allister to the club.
Manchester United have done a decent job in the ongoing season thanks to ten Hag. They have already won a trophy and are in contention for a few more. However, the Dutch manager believes they still need more quality in the centre of the park.
The arrival of Caicedo will strengthen the defensive midfield position, while Mac Allister will add creativity. The Ecuador international will cost around £80 million, while the Argentine’s signature are available for £70 million.
Forking out £150 million might not be that easy to spend. As a result, it will be interesting to see if they can manage to spend that big and land the duo at the club. For now, Manchester United remain keen on bolstering their midfield unit this summer.
