Real Madrid will reportedly run the rule over Kim Min-jae this week when Serie A powerhouses Napoli and AC Milan meet on Wednesday.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Kim Min-jae is on the radar of Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are keen on signing the South Korean centre-back from Serie A club Napoli. Meanwhile, the player’s market value has zoomed to €50 million this season.
Kim Min-jae spent his formative years in various schools and university before turning professional a few years ago. But his stock has skyrocketed since joining Napoli from Fenerbahce last summer. And the 26-year-old has established himself as one of the best defenders in Serie A this season.
At the same time, the South Korean international has seen his market value rise to €50 million. Meanwhile, Kim has made 37 appearances across all competitions, chipping in with two goals and two assists. But he might not be at the Serie A club for long, with Real Madrid among his prospective suitors.
Real Madrid might enter the market for a centre-back in the summer transfer window. That is because Nacho faces an uncertain future at the Santiago Bernabeu amid long-dragging contract talks. With the two parties yet to seal the deal on a renewal, the veteran defender might leave Real Madrid.
In addition, David Alaba is on the wrong side of 30 and has sustained a few injuries this season. So it behoves Real Madrid to scour the market for a central defender in the summer transfer window. And Kim Min-jae has emerged as one of the centre-back targets on Los Blancos’ radar.
The reigning La Liga champions are well-placed to match Kim’s market value of €50 million, if not pay more. And Real Madrid will reportedly send a scout to watch the game between AC Milan and Napoli on Wednesday. The two Serie A giants will lock horns in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final.
