Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz is set to leave the club at the end of the season, with Leeds United and West Ham United interested.
A report from Fichajes claims that Mariano Diaz will be on his way out of Real Madrid when his contract expires in the summer of 2023. And the 29-year-old has emerged as a target for Leeds United and West Ham United.
Real Madrid are unlikely to agree on a new contract with him, and the player will move on as a free agent. The likes of Leeds United and West Ham United are keen on signing the 29-year-old, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
Diaz has been a squad player for Real Madrid over the years, and he has made just eight appearances across all competitions this season. The 29-year-old certainly has the quality to play more often for Real Madrid. And it will be interesting to see if he can join a club that will allow him to play every week.
West Ham United and Leeds United need to add more quality to their attacking unit. And the 29-year-old could prove to be a solid acquisition on a free transfer. The Real Madrid outcast will be desperate to prove himself at the highest level. And the move to the Premier League will be an attractive option for him.
The 29-year-old striker could replace Michail Antonio at West Ham. The experienced striker has not been at his best this season. So David Moyes will have to bring in an upgrade if he wants the Hammers to play European football consistently.
Furthermore, summer signing Gianluca Scamacca has been largely underwhelming and the Hammers are in desperate need of a goalscorer. West Ham have thus shown interest in several strikers, including Mateo Retegui. And Mariano Diaz has emerged as a viable target.
As far as Leeds United are concerned, Patrick Bamford has endured persistent fitness issues. And the Real Madrid attacker could be an alternative to him. Signing a player of his quality on a free transfer could prove to be a bargain, and it would be a no-risk signing as well.
