Liverpool, Manchester United ready to offer €5 million-a-year deal to Kim Min-jae

Liverpool and Manchester United are prepared to more than double the salary of Kim Min-jae if he moves to the Premier League.

According to Calcio Napoli, Kim Min-jae could double his salary to €5 million per season with Liverpool or Manchester United from next season. The 26-year-old defender earns €2 million net per season with Napoli, who remain keen to extend his contract and extinguish a release clause.

Kim Min-jae has become a big name at Napoli after his exploits this season. The Partenopei are running away with the Serie A title after a tremendous campaign, with the 26-year-old defender one of their key players.

Kim Min-jae has marshalled a defence that has been the best in the division. His exploits have attracted the attention of top names from England. Liverpool and Manchester United are keen on the South Korean, especially after a release clause in his contract was revealed.

Kim Min-jae will reportedly have a clause between €50-70 million, which will reportedly remain active for two weeks in July. The release clause will be €10 million less than its exact figure for teams not playing in the Champions League.

Clubs like Liverpool will see value in this clause and could make a move for the 26-year-old defender in the summer. Jurgen Klopp remains keen to add a new central defender and will open the doors to sign the South Korean after a tremendous season under his belt.

Manchester United are already open to paying the release clause. The price may differ for them, considering they remain favourites to qualify for the Champions League. Erik ten Hag also remains open to signing a new defender to shore up his backline.

With Liverpool interested, Manchester United know the task ahead of them to convince Kim Min-jae. The Premier League giants are willing to more than double his salary and pay €5 million net per season to prise the defender away.

Napoli are also keen to tie him down with a new contract, although they are only willing to pay €2.5 million net per season with achievable bonuses amounting to €500,000. The offer of Premier League clubs certainly trumps what Napoli offered, which may play a pivotal role in determining his future.

Napoli believes the sporting project at the club should prove enough to convince players to remain. They want to set examples for the future and will put their best foot forward in convincing the 26-year-old defender. For now, the interest in Premier League persists, and the summer window will show where the South Korean will play next season.
