Gabri Veiga expected to prefer Arsenal move

Arsenal offer €47 million to sign Chelsea target Riccardo Calafiori, told to pay more.

Gabri Veiga could reportedly choose to sign with Arsenal if he decides to sign with an English club.

According to Mundo Deportivo via Sport Witness, Arsenal could become the choice for Gabri Veiga if he decides to sign for an English club. Newcastle United are also among the Premier League sides keen on the 20-year-old. But Real Madrid’s interest could complicate matters for the Gunners.

Gabri Veiga continues to prove his worth with Celta Vigo, as he is Spain’s breakthrough star this season. The 20-year-old is having a sensational season in la Liga and has tremendous interest from big clubs ahead of the summer window.

Nine goals and three assists are good numbers for a 20-year-old getting to play senior football so regularly this season. Veiga is already pencilled in for a Spanish national team call-up. But in the immediate future, he could become the subject of the summer.

Veiga continues to attract plenty of attention from English clubs. Manchester United and Arsenal are among his admirers. Celta Vigo will want clubs to pay up his €40 million release clause, something they know won’t be a problem for Premier League sides.

Newcastle United are among those keen and willing to pay the required money to sign the 20-year-old. Despite Eddie Howe showing enough interest to bring him here, the biggest threat comes from Arsenal, who are equally interested in acquiring the attacking midfielder.

Mikel Arteta made a similar move last summer for Fabio Vieira, as Arsenal did not flinch towards paying what was reportedly required. They could bring the 20-year-old this summer to add to their impressive collection of young rising stars.

The report suggests Veiga might choose Arsenal as his next destination if he joins an English side. However, the big complication for the Gunners could come from Real Madrid’s interest in the midfielder. The capital club admire the 20-year-old but are unwilling to pay the €40 million required by Celta.

Hardly any player rejects the overtures of Real Madrid, and they will certainly hope that is the case with Veiga. However, if the whole deal comes down to money, the Premier League clubs, particularly Arsenal, will have the upper hand.
