Arsenal and Newcastle United will have to pay at least €40-45 million for Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund in the summer.
According to Tutto Atalanta, Rasmus Hojlund will cost at least €40-45 million in the summer. Arsenal and Newcastle United seem interested in the 20-year-forward, who has scored 14 goals for Atalanta in all competitions this campaign.
Rasmus Hojlund continued progressing with his good goalscoring form in Serie A with Atalanta. The 20-year-old forward had come in huge demand during the January window, but the Italian side stood strong with their stance to keep the striker.
Napoli are one of the clubs keen on signing the forward as a possible replacement for Victor Osimhen in the summer. The 20-year-old may not be a finished article yet, but his form suggests he could explode on the big scene and with a top-level club.
Atalanta may have maintained their status over the years as a Champions League quality club, but players like Hojlund may demand more from their careers. Hence a move to England could not become impossible to imagine for those in charge of the player.
Real Madrid had also shown interest before and could retain their chase. They were previously told to pay around €50 million, but the report insists €40-45 million should be the bare minimum cost to sign Hojlund.
Manchester United are also reportedly part of the chase with Real Madrid. But the latest interest comes from Arsenal and Newcastle United. Both sides are keen on recruiting young strikers to their ranks and possibly looking at the development angle after that.
Arsenal already have a brilliant stable of young attackers, including Eddie Nketiah and Ligue 1 star Folarin Balogun. If one of those leave in the summer, Mikel Arteta could plot a move for Hojlund to replace them and possibly bring a new dimension to their attacking options.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has kept tabs on several profiles for the centre-forward role. Hojlund certainly features there, and they could ensure they make the right proposal to convince the players. With the Gunners favourites to win the Premier League and qualify for the Champions League, the task ahead for the Magpies would prove huge.
Newcastle United are also gunning for a top-four place but remain favourites to play Europa League football at the very least. A good project on an English side could tempt Hojlund, and his €40-45 million price tag may prove reasonable for the Magpies. The €40-45 million tag could only mean Atalanta will entertain offers for around that range. If more clubs come into the equation, there’s every chance of the price skyrocketing in the summer.
