Manchester United have enquired about the services of Portuguese star Joao Felix, who is currently on loan at Chelsea.
According to AS, Manchester United are interested in Joao Felix. The 23-year-old forward is currently on loan at Chelsea from Atletico Madrid. Felix is not keen on returning to Spain after his loan move at the London club expires in the coming months. And, the Portuguese attacker is on the lookout for his next club.
Felix joined Chelsea in the winter transfer window. He joined the Blues on a straightforward loan deal without any option or obligation to buy. But, before he joined the London club, the 23-year-old penned down a contract extension at Atletico Madrid. His new contract runs until the summer of 2027. However, he does not intend on returning to his parent club and is looking for greener pastures elsewhere.
The Portugal international parted ways with the Spanish side on a temporary basis after falling out with Diego Simeone. He has since made seven Premier League appearances and has two goals to his name.
The 23-year-old has impressed in his short spell at the club. And, the Blues are interested in signing him on a permanent basis. However, things are a touch complicated as keeping the Portuguese star would require another huge investment. Signing Felix will cost them around €100 million, something that they are not willing to pay at this point in time.
Even if Chelsea do manage to prepare an offer of around €100 million for the Portugal international, it won’t be a cakewalk. As the 23-year-old would only stay if they secure Champions League football which at this point looks unlikely.
Meanwhile, Manchester United who have been interested in Felix for a few years now are monitoring the situation. The Red Devils have asked about his services and are willing to go big if Chelsea don’t end up signing him.
Manchester United do not really have a big name in attack and are looking to add more firepower to their ranks. Erik ten Hag has done a great job at the club since arriving in the summer. But, he wants further reinforcement ahead of next season.
The Dutch manager is keen on adding another attacker to his squad. He has his eyes set on the 23-year-old and wants him at Old Trafford in the summer. While Madrid will be willing to let him leave having flourished in his absences, it won’t be easy given the price tag as well as Chelsea’s interest in the Portugal international.
