The Italian international is one of the candidates on Carlo Ancelotti’s shortlist to bolster the midfield unit. Meanwhile, the Inter Milan playmaker has a market value of €70 million.
Nicolo Barella has been one of the best playmakers in the world since joining Inter Milan from Cagliari. The 26-year-old is a graduate of the Cagliari academy and has seen his stock skyrocket in the last four years. In addition, he has become a pivotal figure for the Italian national side, helping them in their triumphant UEFA Euro 2020 campaign.
The Italian international has also seen his market value soar to €70 million during his Inter Milan stint. And he has a decent tally of six goals and eight assists in 35 appearances thus far this term. Meanwhile, Barella’s progress in the last few seasons has captured the attention of Real Madrid.
The reigning La Liga champions hold a long-standing interest in the Italian midfielder. And Carlo Ancelotti views him as one of the ideal candidates to fill the impending void of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. The ageing midfield stalwarts have created a lasting legacy at Real Madrid.
But they are well into their thirties and approaching the end of their glittering careers. So Real Madrid will need to be ready for life after Modric and Kroos. And Jude Bellingham is reportedly the top target for Real Madrid heading into the summer transfer window. But intense competition for the Englishman means the Merengues need to keep their options open.
