Liverpool and Newcastle United are interested in signing 23-year-old Real Madrid star Brahim Diaz ahead of next season.
According to a report by Fichajes, Liverpool and Newcastle United are keen on signing Brahim Diaz ahead of next season. The 23-year-old has been performing on a consistent basis over the past few seasons and is on the radar of multiple clubs.
Diaz is currently on loan at AC Milan and he has been doing wonders for the Serie A side. The 23-year-old initially joined Milan back in the summer of 2020 on a season-long loan. He had an impressive spell with the club, and they decided to extend his loan by two more years. This time around they managed to get a buy option in the deal for the Real Madrid attacking midfielder.
Diaz’s loan move ends in the summer. And, Milan are yet to make a decision on whether to activate the buy option or not. While they are keen on signing him on a permanent basis, the Italian club are not willing to pay €22 million. Milan want to negotiate at a lower price.
However, reports in Spain suggest that Real Madrid want to have their player back. If the Italian club do not activate the purchase option, he will return to his parent club. However, even if they do activate the option to buy, Real Madrid still have a buy-back option which can see Diaz return to the Los Blancos.
Meanwhile, clubs in England are keen on the 23-year-old, who has seven goal contributions in the ongoing season. Newcastle United and Liverpool are interested in the Spain international’s services. The Real Madrid loanee is a versatile player who can play as an attacking midfielder as well as a winger. And, he will surely bolster the squad that he joins.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have struggled in the ongoing season. And, a lot of their struggles have been because of an inconsistent midfield. Jurgen Klopp is expected to make quite a few changes in the summer. The German is considering a complete midfield overhaul.
Klopp believes signing someone like Diaz will give him a lot of options. His arrival will bolster the Merseyside club’s squad and bring a new dynamic into their midfield. However, they will have to battle it out with Newcastle United who are also interested in the 23-year-old.
The Magpies have done a great job in the ongoing season. They are fighting for a Champions League spot at this point in time. And, Newcastle are expected to go big in the summer as they look to build a squad capable enough to win major trophies.
Eddie Howe has his eyes set on Diaz. The 23-year-old suits his needs and he will be a great addition considering the project at hand. However, it won’t be easy for any of the clubs to prise him away from Real Madrid who want to have Diaz in their ranks for next season.
