Liverpool star forward Mohamed Salah reportedly dreams about joining Spanish giants Real Madrid when he leaves.
According to Defensa Central, Mohamed Salah is keen on joining Real Madrid. The Egypt international is not sure about his future at Liverpool and is looking at options elsewhere. The 30-year-old forward has had a dream of joining Los Blancos for quite a while now. And, it seems like the right time for him to make a switch.
Jaime Pabon who was Salah’s trainer during his Roma days has talked about the Egypt forward’s dream of playing for the Los Blancos. Pabon said, “I told him (Salah) that he had to sign for Barcelona and he told me no. That his dream was to play for Real Madrid.”
Liverpool have struggled in the ongoing season. They have not been at their best and are fighting for a UEFA Champions League spot. The Merseyside club are currently sixth in the points table, five points behind fifth-placed Newcastle United.
They do have a chance of finishing in the top four. But, it is by no means a certainty. They have been knocked out at the hands of Real Madrid from the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. And the only way to qualify for the European competition is a top-four finish.
Meanwhile, Salah has still had a decent season so far. The 30-year-old has 33 goal contributions in 39 outings. His team have struggled, but the Egyptian has still managed to rack up decent numbers by his lofty standards.
The Egypt international’s future at the Merseyside club will depend on a top-four finish. While his current contract ends in the summer of 2025, he might be on his way out in the summer if they fail to qualify for Champions League football.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid, who have done a decent job so far this season, will look for further reinforcement in the summer. And, they would surely love to have the Egypt international in their ranks. The 30-year-old is a world-class player who will bolster their squad and add a lot of goals. However, the Liverpool talisman is not a priority for Los Blancos.
Salah will cost around €80 million, and it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid are willing to spend that much on a right winger given their priority is to sign a striker. However, Salah is desperate to make a move to Santiago Bernabeu and will surely push for it if Liverpool fails to qualify for the Champions League.
