Arsenal remain interested in signing 21-year-old Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo at the end of the season.
Arsenal tried to sign Moises Caicedo during the January transfer window and had a bid of around £70 million rejected for him. A report from Football Insider claims that the Gunners plan to return with a huge offer in the summer.
The 21-year-old midfielder has established himself as a key player for Brighton, and he is undoubtedly one of the most promising young talents in the Premier League. Arsenal need a player like him alongside Thomas Partey. And Caicedo could prove to be a superb long-term acquisition.
Back in January, the player publicly revealed his desire to leave the Premier League club when Arsenal were interested in signing him. However, Brighton held firm and kept Caicedo at the club. He then went on to sign a new contract with them until the summer of 2027.
It is fair to assume that Brighton will now demand a premium for his services, given the fact that he has four years left on his contract with them. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal are prepared to break the bank for him.
The Gunners went up to £70 million in January and will have to improve their offer significantly now. Football Insider believes that Brighton’s asking price could be close to £90 million now. The Premier League side signed the midfielder for a fee of just £4.5 million in 2021, and they are set to make a remarkable profit on him in the summer.
Arsenal are well-placed to win the Premier League title, and they are set to return to the Champions league. Although they have a talented squad, they will need to add more depth in order to compete across all fronts next year. Improving their midfield should be a top priority for Mikel Arteta, and Caicedo would be a sensational acquisition.
He could be the ideal partner for Partey in the midfield pivot and will help the Gunners control proceedings in the middle of the park and dictate the tempo of the game. Furthermore, the 21-year-old is an excellent presser with a relentless work ethic. Caicedo will help out the Arsenal midfield defensively as well.
