Tottenham interested in Giorgi Mamardashvili

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a number of goalkeepers in recent months, with Valencia ace Giorgi Mamardashvili on their shortlist.

A report from Caught Offside claims that 22-year-old Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is high up on Tottenham’s list of targets as they look to replace club legend Hugo Lloris.

The 36-year-old French goalkeeper has not been at his best this season, and he has clearly regressed over the past year. Lloris is a shadow of his former self, and Tottenham must look to replace him as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. Pundits have also urged Tottenham to pull the trigger. After all, his error-prone performances have cost the side valuable points this season.

Meanwhile, Giorgi Mamardashvili has been a quality goalkeeper for Valencia, and he has proven his quality in La Liga. The talented goalkeeper could prove to be a useful acquisition for Tottenham, and he will help them improve as a side.

The opportunity to move to the Premier League is likely to be a tempting proposition. And Tottenham will be able to offer him a lucrative contract as well. It remains to be seen whether the north London club can agree on a fee with La Liga outfit Valencia now.

Tottenham have been linked with other goalkeepers like Robert Sanchez, David Raya and Mike Maignan as well. Apparently, Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is also on their radar.

Ben Jacobs wrote on Caught Offside, “Spurs are looking to replace Hugo Lloris. They have Raya on their radar. Valencia goalkeeper Giori Mamardashvili is another name pretty high up on the list of possibilities.”

“Milan’s Mike Maignan was also watched closely in Tottenham’s loss to Milan, and his late save from Kane’s header in injury time to stop the tie going to extra-time won’t have gone unnoticed. And, as revealed last year, Spurs are big fans of Jordan Pickford.”

Valencia will be hoping to hold on to their key player beyond this summer. But they could be powerless to stop him from leaving if the player has his head turned by the interest from the London club. Furthermore, Tottenham have the resources to offer them a lucrative fee for the player as well.

It remains to be seen how the situation develops over the next few months. Mamardashvili is quite young, and he is likely to improve with experience and coaching. The 22-year-old could prove to be a solid long-term investment for the Londoners.
