Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi could be on his way out of the club at the end of the season.
The 22-year-old winger is currently on loan at German club Bayer Leverkusen and he could be sold permanently during the summer transfer window. A report from Fichajes claims that Chelsea are looking to lighten their squad and the 22-year-old winger could be one of the casualties.
Hudson-Odoi was highly rated at Stamford Bridge before his move to Leverkusen and he has a big future ahead of him. Even if Chelsea decide to get rid of him at the end of the season, the 22-year-old is unlikely to have any shortage of suitors.
His contract with Chelsea ends in the summer of 2024 and the winger could be available for a reasonable price at the end of the season.
Hudson-Odoi needs to play regularly in order to fulfil his tremendous potential and he is unlikely to get those opportunities at Chelsea next season. The Blues have recently spent a considerable amount of money on players like Mykhaylo Murdyk and Noni Madueke. Callum Hudson-Odoi is unlikely to get ample game time at Stamford Bridge and it makes sense for him to leave the club during the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old needs to join a club where he will play regularly at this stage of his career and it remains to be seen whether Bayer Leverkusen are open to signing the player permanently. The 22-year-old is naturally a left-sided winger but he is versatile enough to play on the right flank as well.
It remains to be seen whether the talented young Chelsea winger returns to the Premier League at the end of the season.
Hudson-Odoi has shown his qualities in the Premier League before heading out on loan to the German club and he could be an important first-team player for most clubs in the division.
The 22-year-old has all the attributes to develop into a top-class player and Chelsea could end up regretting their decision to sell him at the end of the season.
That said, the Blues are in need of attacking reinforcements and they need to bring in a quality goal scorer at the end of the season. If the departure of Hudson-Odoi allows them to sign a quality striker in the summer, it could prove to be a beneficial move for the London club in the end.
