Premier League giants Liverpool are interested in signing 25-year-old Watford winger Ismaila Sarr ahead of next season.
According to a report by Fichajes, Liverpool have their eyes on Watford’s Ismaila Sarr and want to land him at the club ahead of next season. The Merseyside club have had their eyes on Sarr in the past as well, but it looks like they are keen on signing him this time around.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have been struggling in the ongoing season. They have had a difficult time in both Europe as well as the Premier League. However, the Merseyside club have managed to fight back lately with impressive performances.
Their 7-0 win over Manchester United in the league sums up their improvement. They have managed to crawl up in the league and are currently fifth with 42 points out of their 25 matches. Klopp’s men are three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur and have a game in hand.
While they have managed to revive themselves, it is pretty much clear that they are in desperate need of reinforcement. Their major focus will be on the midfield, but Klopp is also keen on signing a forward. They have had their eyes on Sarr in the past as well. But, this time around they look well poised to sign the 25-year-old.
Sarr has been a part of the Watford team since the summer of 2019. The Senegal international has made a total of 122 appearances for the Championship side and has 56 goal contributions to his name.
In the ongoing season, Sarr has featured in 30 matches and has 14 goal contributions. It has been a great season for the Senegalese forward. His current contract with Watford ends in the summer of 2024.
At this point in time, he is not interested in penning down a new deal. And, Watford might not have many options other than selling him the summer. The Championship side will not want to lose out on him for free in 12 months’ time, as a result, a summer sale is likely.
Liverpool are well aware of the situation and are likely to push for the Watford star. The 25-year-old is a versatile player who can play in different positions in the attack. His arrival will allow Klopp to rotate his players and is a great option to have in your ranks. However, it won’t be that easy a task to sign him as other clubs across Europe also have their eyes on him.
