AC Milan and Atletico Madrid are keen on securing the services of 20-year-old Liverpool goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga.

According to a report by Football Insider, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid have been scouting Liverpool goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga. The 20-year-old has been on the radar of the two European giants for a while now. And, they are believed to have sent scouts to watch him play for the Liverpool Under-21 team.

Pitaluga came through the ranks at Fluminense before joining the Merseyside club back in the summer of 2020. Liverpool paid around £2 million to acquire the 20-year-old’s services.

The Brazilian goalkeeper joined Macclesfield on loan ahead of the ongoing season. He made 23 appearances and kept 11 clean sheets for the Cheshire side. Unfortunately, he could not complete the season with Macclesfield due to an injury.

An ankle ligament injury forced him to end his loan prematurely and return to the Merseyside club. However, he has recovered from the injury and returned to action for Liverpool’s Under-21 side in Premier League 2 in late February.

His performances in the first half of the season were quite impressive. The European giants were monitoring him closely while he was out on loan. And, they had recently sent scouts to watch him in action for Liverpool’s Under-21s. The scouts were in awe of the 20-year-old who is fighting for a place in the Brazil Olympics squad for Paris 2024.

AC Milan and Atletico Madrid admire the Brazilian goalkeeper and will push for his signature in the summer. The 20-year-old is behind Alisson Becker, Caoimhin Kelleher and Adrian in Liverpool’s pecking order. However, Adrian and Kelleher’s future at the club are uncertain. As a result, things won’t be that easy for either of the two European clubs.

They will have to put forward a great offer in order to secure the signature of the 20-year-old. Jurgen Klopp might consider selling him if he gets the right price. While Milan and Atletico Madrid do have their first-team goalkeepers sorted for now, they are looking for someone who can become their undisputed number one in the near future.

According to the report of their scouts, Marcelo Pitaluga perfectly fits the bill to take over as their number one in the near future. However, it won’t be an easy task to land the Brazilian starlet. And, it might come down to whether Liverpool want him to stay or is he surplus to their requirements.
