Liverpool keen on Evan Ndicka

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing 23-year-old French defender Evan Ndicka in a Bosman move this summer.

A report from GiveMeSport claims that Liverpool are eyeing up a move for Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka, who will be a free agent at the end of the season.

Ben Jacobs said to GMS: “At the opposite extreme, you’ve got a player, for example, like Evan Ndicka, who’s a free transfer. And that’s exactly the kind of player that Liverpool love because they know there’s value. They appreciate the talent there, so that’s one to watch as well.”

The 23-year-old French defender has done well with the Bundesliga club this season. And signing him on a free transfer could prove to be a masterstroke. Liverpool will have to bring in more options at the back and the Frenchman could prove to be a quality acquisition for the long term. Ndicka is only 23 and he is likely to develop further and improve as a defender.

Jurgen Klopp has worked wonders with talented young players throughout his managerial career and he could help the French defender reach another level. Meanwhile, the centre-back is likely to be tempted to move to the Premier League and the opportunity to play for a big club like Liverpool could prove hard to turn down.

Ndicka has decided not to renew his contract with Eintracht Frankfurt, and he has been linked with a number of clubs recently. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool can fend off the competition and secure his services in the coming months.

Liverpool will have to improve the other areas of their squad as well. So the opportunity to sign a defender on a bargain cannot be overlooked. The midfield remains the priority for Liverpool and they will have to bring in a number of players to freshen up their engine room. However, bringing in a defender will be equally important for them.

The likes of Joel Matip and Joe Gomez look like shadows of their formal selves. And they are no longer the players they used to be. Both players need replacing at the end of the season, and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool decide to bring in another player apart from Ndicka.

They have been linked with RB Leipzig star Josko Gvardiol as well. An eventful summer transfer window lies ahead for Liverpool, and it remains to be seen whether they can plug the major gaps in the squad and return to the top of English football once again.
