Liverpool are linked with a move for Nicolo Barella, and they are ready to sell Thiago Alcantara to fund a move for the Italian international.
According to our report from Calciomercatoweb, Thiago Alcantara could be sold at the end of the season. And Serie A giants AC Milan are keen on signing the 31-year-old Spanish international from Liverpool.
Thiago has proven to be a quality acquisition for Liverpool. And the former Bayern Munich midfielder has done well since his move to Anfield. However, he is in his twilight years, and his availability has been a concern as well.
It will be interesting to see if Jurgen Klopp is willing to cash in on the 31-year-old and invest in a younger option this summer. AC Milan need someone who can control games and dictate the tempo. Very few players in the world can do that as well as Thiago. The lower intensity of Italian football would suit the player as well.
Barella has been linked with a move away from Italy, and Liverpool are one of the clubs looking to sign him. The 26-year-old has the quality to succeed in the Premier League, and he could be a superb acquisition for the Reds. Barella would be an upgrade on some of Liverpool’s current options.
The 26-year-old is undoubtedly one of the best midfielders in Serie A. And a coach like Klopp could bring out the best in him and help him develop further. The midfielder is reportedly valued at €80 million. And it will be interesting to see if Liverpool are prepared to fork out that kind of money to secure his services.
The Reds have been linked with a move for the Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham as well. The England international is likely to cost a lot more, and Barella would be a cheaper alternative. Liverpool are likely to lose players like Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner at the end of the season when their contracts expire.
They will need to bring in more than one central midfielder in the summer transfer window. And selling Thiago might not be a wise decision for now. The 31-year-old is undoubtedly the best midfielder at the club, and the Reds should look to part with the likes of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson first. Both players have regressed considerably and are no longer good enough to play for a club like Liverpool.
