Barcelona will reportedly need to cough up €80 million to sign teenage German sensation Youssoufa Moukoko from Borussia Dortmund.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Borussia Dortmund will demand €80 million to part ways with Youssoufa Moukoko. The teenage German sensation is a target for Barcelona. And the Blaugrana will unlikely have the funds to sign him from the Bundesliga club.
Youssoufa Moukoko is one of the best young players in the Bundesliga, making his mark since graduating from the Bundesliga academy. The 18-year-old set age-group football in Germany alight during his formative years. And his exploits forced the Bundesliga to alter rules surrounding the minimum age for someone to debut.
The teenage sensation was initially under Erling Haaland’s shadows but has risen in stature this season. The German international is also making waves on the international stage with Die Mannschaft. He has six goals and six assists in 26 appearances for Dortmund this term. And Moukoko’s progress has captured the attention of several clubs, including Barcelona.
Barcelona only signed Robert Lewandowski last summer. And while the Poland captain has been sensational for the Blaugrana, he well into his thirties. So Barcelona will need to lay down a succession plan for the veteran striker, who will soon enter the twilight of his career.
Several young strikers, including Vitor Roque, have emerged on Barcelona’s radar. But Youssoufa Moukoko is also a viable target. And the Catalan giants were keen on signing the teenage German sensation in a Bosman move. But the 18-year-old has signed a new contract with Borussia Dortmund.
With the youngster’s new deal running until June 30, 2026, his price tag has skyrocketed. And the Bundesliga giants will demand €80 million to part ways with Moukoko in the summer transfer window. That complicates matters for Barcelona amid the never-ending financial woes. So their best solution will be to invest in a free agent or a youngster going under the radar.
