Manchester United willing to pay Kim Min-Jae release clause

Manchester United are ready to pay the €48 million release clause for 26-year-old Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae.

According to Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness, Manchester United are ready to pay the release clause of Kim Min-jae. Erik ten Hag is an admirer of the player and wants him at the club ahead of next season.

Ever since the arrival of Erik ten Hag at the club, Manchester United have looked like a completely different team. The Red Devils are on their way back to the top. They are currently third in the Premier League and are still in the race for all four trophies.

Ten Hag’s arrival has changed a lot at the club. But, there are a few things that he still needs to work out. The Dutch boss has identified the centre-back position as one of the important areas where he would like another signing.

The Manchester United manager is keen on signing the 26-year-old South Korean from Napoli. Min-Jae joined Napoli ahead of the ongoing season from Fenerbahce. He has already established himself as a regular and has successfully replaced Kalidou Koulibaly who left for Chelsea.

The South Korea international has featured in 30 matches for the Italian club. He has been rock solid in defence and is one of the reasons why the Partenopei are 15 points clear at the top of the table in Serie A.

His performances have attracted a lot of attention of late. Manchester United are one of the clubs willing to go all out for the Asian centre-back. And, the fact that there is a release clause of €48 million in his contract makes things a touch easier for the English side.

But, as per reports, this release clause will only be active for 15 days which can make things a bit complicated. Manchester United are desperate to add another world-class defender to their ranks. They want Kim at the club to form a core with Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez. And, the Red Devils are ready to pay the release clause.

With the future of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof in doubt, it looks like a great move from the Dutch manager. The 26-year-old’s arrival will give them more solidity at the back and will allow them to express themselves in attack and take the next step towards returning to the good old days.

However, it won’t be an easy task given the interest from elsewhere and the 15-day release clause. It will be interesting to see if the Red Devils can manage to land Kim Min-Jae at Old Trafford in the summer.
